The Dayton Docs
"Providing amateur athletes with a professional baseball experience."
The Dayton Docs —sponsored by Major League Baseball— are a non-profit amateur
baseball organization in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (GLSCL). In a
wood bat-only environment with heightened exposure to both college coaches and
Major League scouts, The Dayton Docs organization aims to provide college freshmen,
sophomores and juniors with a professional experience during a 44-game summer schedule.
The organization plays its home games at Nischwitz Stadium on the campus of Wright
State University, a modern 750-seat facility conveniently located just off of Dayton's
major beltway, Interstate-675. Led by a coaching staff with over 50 years of experience
at the college and professional levels, the team is comprised of players from the Big
East, Big 10, SEC, MAC and Conference USA.
The GLSCL is part of the National Alliance of Summer Collegiate Baseball, an affiliation
of eight NCAA-sanctioned summer collegiate leagues that spans the entire United
States. The GLSCL can count itself amongst the eighteen summer collegiate leagues
that garner the attention of Baseball America, baseball's premier amateur baseball
publication. In one recent three-year period, the GLSCL saw over 130 of its players
drafted by Major League Baseball, including eight in the first round.
Combine that level of talent with 22 home game-day promotions and the proverbial
family-oriented atmosphere of the traditional minor league baseball team, and there are
plenty of reasons to make The Dayton Docs part of your summer entertainment
schedule.
