DAYTON DROPS HOME FINALE
It took just five batters in the sixth for Licking County to score its four runs as the Settlers spoiled the home finale for the Dayton Docs Friday night with a 4-2 win at Nischwitz Stadium.
The game was scoreless until Dayton pushed across a run in the fifth. Patrick Paligraf led off with a hit, went to second on a Zach Mosbarger ground out and scored an out later as Joe Ford dropped a single into short right.
Licking County, however, went in front to stay in the sixth. With one out, three straight doubles from Marcos Calderon, Ryan Cordell and Alex Johnson made it 2-1 and, after Jake Fields drew a walk, another double, this time by Matt Parisi, drove in Johnson and Fields to increase the lead to 4-1.
The Docs scored an unearned run in the eighth as Garrett Gray singled and later scored as Kody Krizman reached on an error, but could get no closer.
Brady Stewart had three hits for Dayton while Gray and Paligraf had two.
Dayton (16-22) closes out the regular season Sunday with a 5:00 contest at Stark County.
