DAYTON FALLS 11-2 TO STARK COUNTY
It was a scoreless game after five innings, but Stark County took control from there as the Terriers exploded for five in the sixth and went on to an 11-2 decision over the Dayton Docs Saturday night at Nischwitz Stadium.
Starters Cory Johnson of Dayton and Cameron Palmer of Stark County were locked into a pitcher's duel over the first five innings, with Johnson allowing just two hits and Palmer three.
The sixth, however, was a different story as the Terriers scored five times, including a two-run single from Jason Bagoly and a three-run double by Tommy Monnot.
Dayton tallied a run in the seventh as Brian Bien doubled and Chris Manning tripled to right center, but Stark County put the game out of reach with four in the eighth and two more in the ninth.
The final run for the Docs came in the eighth as Troy Summers singled in Kody Krizman, who reached on a walk.
Bien and Manning each had two hits for Dayton.
Dayton (6-12) heads to Lexington for a 2:00 doubleheader Sunday before hosting Xenia in a makeup contest on Monday at 7:00.
