Dayton Docs

vs.

Portland Rockets

DAYTON FALLS 5-3 AT LAKE ERIE

Box Score

Dayton scored twice in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead, only to see Lake Erie answer with three in its half of the inning as the Monarchs went on to a 5-3 win over the Docs at Ned Skeldon Stadium Wednesday night.

The Docs tallied a run in the first as Chris Manning was hit by a pitch and Will Drake and Garrett Gray had back-to-back singles.  The rally, however, would go no further as Monarch starter John Kravetz induced a double play and a ground out to end the inning.

Lake Erie scored single runs in the third and fourth to go up 2-1 before Dayton regained the lead in the sixth.  Following a Brady Stewart single, a Troy Summers walk and a Joe Ford sacrifice bunt, a wild pitch allowed Stewart to score and Summers came in on a Patrick Paligraf sacrifice fly.

The Monarchs, however, answered with three in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the win despite the Docs having runners at second in both the seventh and the ninth.

Gray had two hits to pace the Dayton offense.

Dayton (6-10) visits Lima Thursday for a 7:00 matchup.
